Customer photo review of Maelstrom (Whyborne & Griffin 7) - HARDCOVER

I love Hawk's sense of humor! The characters have such depth, and Hawk always manages to make me shed some tears. The ending was especially emotional - such a great climax!

Customer photo review of Tales From Widdershins (Whyborne & Griffin) - HARDCOVER

A must-have if you love the Whyborne & Griffin series! Not to mention how beautiful this cover is! "Changeling" is written in Niles Whyborne's POV, about Percival's birth, childhood and youth. It contains spoilers, so at least read "Widdershins" first. "Rescued" is a heartwarming story about how Saul came into Griffin's life. It felt extra special reading next to my own sweet rescue cat. They really do enrich our lives. I would recommend to read this after "Widdershins" as well. As written in the introduction, "Home" immediately follows "Widdershins". It's Whyborne and Griffin's first Christmas together, told in Griffin's POV. "Eidolon" is also written in Griffin's POV. My thoughts after reading it: I love that Whyborne and Griffin are so kind and sweet, and at the same time, flawed. They're also brave, despite their weaknesses. Whyborne is shy and clumsy, and Griffin has his own insecurities and baggage. Takes place between "Widdershins" and "Threshold". "Carousel" is one of my favorite short stories in this collection. It takes place between the events of "Stormhaven" and "Necropolis". My thoughts: Creepy, heartwarming and even a bit steamy. It amazes me how such a short story can be packed with so much suspense. You'd think that it would feel rushed or lack something, but Hawk's writing skills are awe-inspiring. "Remnant" is the reason why I started reading this series 10 years ago. Something about it caught my eye, and I'm so glad it did! It's co-written with the amazing KJ Charles. Whyborne and Griffin make a stop in England on their way to Egypt, where the events of "Necropolis" will take place. They meet KJ Charles' characters Caldwell and Feximal and must solve a mysterious case together. "Harmony" is another short and sweet Christmas story. Griffin is so romantic! Read after "Bloodline". In "Undertow" we read from sweet Miss Parkhurst's POV. It's set during the events of "Fallow". My thoughts: You know you've created a great universe when you write an excellent story without any of the main characters. I've loved Miss Parkhurst and Persephone since the first time they were mentioned. It was such a delight to follow their adventure. Also, I'm a huge fan of Mr. Quinn and the librarians!

Customer photo review of Fallow (Whyborne & Griffin 8) - HARDCOVER

I adore how Hawk weaves in topics like women's rights, anti racism and homophobia in such a seamless way in this action packed, emotional, sometimes scary, sometimes funny, through and through beautiful novel. I know I've said this about some of the previous books in this series, but I think this is my favorite so far! I love this author so much, not only for the amazing books, but for his knowledge, wisdom and kindness reflected in them.

Customer photo review of Hoarfrost (Whyborne & Griffin 6) - HARDCOVER

We switch back and forth between Whyborne's and Griffin's pov. The first chapter was so beautifully emotional. And the journey to Hoarfrost was written in such a way that made me feel how painfully long and tiresome it must have been for the characters. Hawk once again had me on the edge of my seat, wondering how my favorite characters were going to get out of this one.

Customer photo review of Bloodline (Whyborne & Griffin 5) - HARDCOVER

I've been so looking forward to re-reading this book, especially in this gorgeous hardcover edition! It's one that I kept thinking about now and then ever since I first read it 10 years ago. There's so much going on, and the author ties these plot lines together so nicely! Yet another emotional roller-coaster! Ups and downs, twists and turns, and some surprising character developments, right up until the last chapter. Oh, and welcome back, Amelie. It was a pleasure seeing you in Widdershins again.

Customer photo review of Necropolis (Whyborne & Griffin 4) - HARDCOVER

What a roller-coaster ride! Whyborne and Griffin's relationship is heartwarming. Whyborne, especially, grows so much as a character and a sorcerer. Christine's character development is also very notable in this book. She shows vulnerability for the first time. Her friendship with Whyborne gets even stronger when she opens up to him and asks him for advice. The plot is amazingly suspenseful. I felt like I was in Egypt with them, heart pounding, tears falling and sometimes I even chuckled. Whyborne is such a lovable character: "Not to suggest I disliked any of them in specific, so much as I never felt comfortable with people in general." Relatable! Lol! Oh, and who could forget Daisy!

Customer photo review of Stormhaven (Whyborne & Griffin 3) - HARDCOVER

This 10th anniversary cover is absolutely stunning! There's a delicate pattern on the first page of each chapter. Another Whyborne and Griffin mystery keeping me at the edge of my seat. Lovecraftian horror, amazing character development, spice and family drama.

Customer photo review of Threshold (Whyborne & Griffin 2) - HARDCOVER

An absolutely great read! And the 10th anniversary edition hardback cover is so beautiful and feels really nice to the touch! Whyborne, Griffin and the delightfully sassy Christine have to solve a mystery in Threshold, a mining town in West Virginia. There is folklore, romance and horror. There are also some quotes that made me giggle, like: (Whyborne reading someone else's letter aloud) γ€Š"My dearest pudding pie," I read aloud. "Yes, my little turnip?" "Hilarious," I muttered. "If you ever call me anything of the sort again, we shall have words."》 In addition to being fun, mysterious and scary, this book also had its emotional parts.

Customer photo review of Widdershins (Whyborne & Griffin 1) - HARDCOVER

This perfectly paced (in my opinion) novel is packed with action, mystery and romance. The world building and magic system are so well done. The characters are loveable, and some are loathsome too. Hawk is a master at building up anticipation and rewarding the reader with an intensity, be it in the form of passionate romance or thrilling action. The climax gave me goosebumps, even after my second read. The covers of these 10th anniversary editions are absolutely stunning! I was going to put them on my bookcase, but decided that they deserve to be displayed in the middle of my living room instead.

Love the Rath and Rune series, the characters and plot are as good as Whyborne and Griffin, despite a shorter storyline

Unbroken (Rath & Rune 4) - eBook

A spectacular read , balancing a tender romance and sweet found-family storyline against a high-stakes plot. Plenty of action and intrigue that will keep you turning pages late into the night. Widdershins knows its own, in blood and spirit, breath and bone.

Unknown (Rath & Rune 3) - eBook

Unbroken (Rath & Rune 4) - eBook

So well written, totally captured Victorian time and place, which make for a great contrast between propriety and spice. Whyborne and Griffin are well-drawn and likable characters. A fun and suspenseful read, skillfully crafted!

Widdershins (Whyborne & Griffin 1) - Ebook

Great story, love the world of Griffin and Whybone and Widdershins. Seeing what happened to characters after the events of the first series, Rath and Rune are a wonderful addition to the Widdershins world. I do wish the book had an information/acknowledgment section, like past copies. I loved learning about all the unique things of the time.

Unbroken (Rath & Rune 4) - PAPERBACK

A great second series. The charakters, the story and the relationship is developing and we get more insight to the dynamic of the relationship and the charaktars. I really liked Zahira as the new partner of the three. Jordan L hawk always deliver well writhen urban fantasy romance. If you liked the first serie, you can do nothinh wrong with following along the journey.
